- [용어] 이 항목군은 공통적으로 증명가능한 병인이 뇌질환, 뇌외상 또는 뇌기능이상을 초래하는 기타 상해인 것을 공통적 특성으로 하는 일련의 정신장애로 구성된다. 기능이상은 뇌에 직접 및 선택적으로 영향을 주는 질환, 손상 및 상해에서와 같이 일차성일 수도 있고, 또는 신체의 여러 기관 또는 계통의 하나가 침범되었을 때만 뇌를 침범하는 전신 질환 및 장애에서와 같이 이차성일 수도 있다. 기억력, 사고력, 지남력, 이해력, 계산능력, 학습능력을 포함하는 여러 고위피질기능의 장애가 있는 만성 또는 진행성의 뇌질환에 의한 증후군이 치매(F00-F03)이다. 의식은 몽롱하지 않다. 인지기능의 손상이 자주 동반되고, 때로는 감정 조절, 사회적 행동 또는 동기부여 등의 저하가 먼저 일어난다. 증후는 알츠하이머병, 뇌혈관질환 및 일차성 또는 이차성으로 뇌를 침범하는 다른 병태에서 발생한다.

- [표제어] This block comprises a range of mental disorders grouped together on the basis of their having in common a demonstrable etiology in cerebral disease, brain injury, or other insult leading to cerebral dysfunction. The dysfunction may be primary, as in diseases, injuries, and insults that affect the brain directly and selectively; or secondary, as in systemic diseases and disorders that attack the brain only as one of the multiple organs or systems of the body that are involved. Dementia (F00-F03) is a syndrome due to disease of the brain, usually of a chronic or progressive nature, in which there is disturbance of multiple higher cortical functions, including memory, thinking, orientation, comprehension, calculation, learning capacity, language, and judgement. Consciousness is not clouded. The impairments of cognitive function are commonly accompanied, and occasionally preceded, by deterioration in emotional control, social behaviour, or motivation. This syndrome occurs in Alzheimer disease, in cerebrovascular disease, and in other conditions primarily or secondarily affecting the brain.
